Mission-critical parts for aviation
Aviation relies heavily on critical parts to remain airborne. As a leader in composite manufacturing, we utilize the latest technology and proprietary processes to engineer solutions for today’s aerospace OEMs.
Learn MoreAirstair Assembly
Textron Aviation
The Citation® CJ4® business jet is universally acclaimed for its efficient design. We partnered with Textron Aviation to build a step assembly that would offer lightweight durability without diminishing performance.
Project Highlights
- Cost savings through out-of-autoclave processing
- Lightweight carbon fiber and foam core
- Avionics integration
- Dimensions: 38 inches by 18 inches
Using CNC ply cutting into carbon fiber, we rapidly assembled a multipart, integrated structure with steps measuring 38 inches by 18 inches. We then added internally captured machined metal, hollow-cavity components, foam and an external controller that deploys the steps at an even rate. This was accomplished in one shot using conventional matched-die resin transfer molding (RTM) and out-of-autoclave curing. We applied finishing touches of prime and top coating with multiple paint variants. The airstair showcases our avionics ability, and its economical design befits the CJ4’s mission.
Aircraft Fairing
Textron Aviation
For many years we have supplied Cessna® Citation® business jets with a wide range of fairings. As a direct result, these aircraft have experienced a drastic reduction in form drag and interference drag.
Project Highlights
- Complex hollow-cavity component
- Cost savings with out-of-autoclave manufacturing
- One-shot matched-die resin transfer molding (RTM)
- Dimensions: 29 inches by 22 inches
Utilizing CNC ply cutting and multi-quadrant, matched-die tooling, we developed customized aft bullet fairings for Citation® CJ1 and CJ2 business jets. The parts featured a durable carbon fiber construction and were produced in one shot using conventional matched-die RTM. Our composite fairings had a positive impact on aircraft performance by making flights smoother.
